Originally known as The National Mutual Building and Custom Credit House, 293 Queen is noted on the Queensland Heritage Register based on its importance in the development of the Brisbane financial sector.

Its beautiful sandstone façade with copper panelling and original windows is considered an important part of the Brisbane streetscape, reflecting the dignity and standing of a financial institution from this period.

Located right in the heart of the Queen Street commercial precinct, 293 Queen’s timeless elegance stands it apart from the crowd, with a charm and character from another century.

Designed in 1926 by Melbourne architects Gibbs, Finlay, and Morsby, 293 Queen was built as the offices for the National Mutual Life Association, which occupied the site for some 55 years to 1981.
